The MHASF Volunteer Program is all about Paying It Forward! Our program trains volunteers for the future, of not only non-profit mental health, but for making an impact in anything that you do. Our program is tailored to the volunteer's goals and objectives along with the agency's needs. We have successfully partnered with San Francisco State University, University of California San Francisco, University of San Fransisco, Northwestern University, Harvard University, in addition to many others.

Peer-Run Warm Line Volunteer
Program Support Volunteer
Under the direction of the specific program you choose, the Program Support Volunteer will provide administrative and program support at the Mental Health Association of San Francisco (MHASF). The Program Support Volunteer will assist with day to day program operations at the agency, including but not limited to entering data for clients, coordinating group meetings, evaluations, and completing general administrative tasks. Those interested can also be trained help create our fliers and social media content.
Social Media Volunteer/Intern
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and driven social media-marketing volunteer/intern to join our mission driven team at MHASF. This is a multi-faceted role ideal for a motivated individual dedicated to maintaining and co-developing social media communications and approaches.
The fundraising volunteer will identify ways of raising funds and to take action to help secure this funding by researching and talking to companies, potential donors, and organizations by phone, email, and site visits. The fundraising volunteer will provide a range of support for all fundraising events. This is a multi-faceted role ideal for a motivated individual dedicated to help market and promote the various events MHASF hosts and presents.
Visual Marketing Volunteer/Intern (Communications and Marketing)
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and driven visual marketing volunteer intern to join our mission driven team at MHASF. The volunteer will create promotional videos, still shots, and overall document the work of the Mental Health Association of San Francisco. This position is part of a fast-paced team environment and is expected to take the lead on all video work and development while integrating team members’ ideas and input. This is a multi-faceted role ideal for a motivated individual dedicated to help market and promote the various programs we offer to the San Francisco Bay Area Community.
Administrative Support Volunteer
Under the direction of the Events and Volunteer Coordinator, the Administrative Support Volunteer will provide administrative support at the Mental Health Association of San Francisco (MHASF). The Administrative Support Volunteer will assist with day to day operations at the agency, including but not limited to serving as the first point of contact for guests and callers, maintaining a welcome and tidy lobby area, and completing general administrative tasks.
